This is my second painting for Virtual Paintout, for the month of June. This is a salubrious countryside from the Azores island. I have added warmth with ochre and green, made the sky is dramatic. Look at the screen shot of the location and the water color painting.
Visit to Tumkur always includes trek through the forests of Devarayanadurga. My previous visit was during summer, the trees were barren and the forest appeared brittle, ready to break into fire. During this visit, monsoon has given a new breath to the trees and the hills. I walked through the forest with two of my friends, just as the day was breaking. I sat on rocks and carried out several water washes, detailing in pencil, and leaving it at that. I came back and completed the paintings. Actually I have not done much by way of completion, because I want the paintings to have an immediacy. I want to remain with the scenes of that wonderful morning.

The Virtual Paintout encourages artists to use Google Street View to find interesting locations and subjects to paint. Every month a country/location is suggested in the site. For the month of June the artists are exploring the scenic Azores, a group of volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean about 1500 km west of Portugal. I was here in this village by the sea. Here is the link to visit on the Google map http://goo.gl/maps/VWNcE . And here is the screen shot of the location:
